Śrī-Śrī-Bhāvanā-Sāra-Saṅgrahaḥ, Madhyāhna-Līlā 51-60

dhīratā vāmatā sūkṣma-medhālībhiḥ prabodhitā |

tvarayantī sakhīr yāne bhaṅgyā parijahāsa sā || 51 ||

Śrī Rādhā, whose firmness, contrariness and keen intelligence are understood by the sakhīs, began to banter with them as they encouraged her to go see Kṛṣṇa. (Govinda-Līlāmṛtam 8.12)

paśyatāgre didṛkṣā ced gatvālaṁ mad-apekṣayā |

śaibyā vāg-vāgurā-baddhaṁ kṛṣṇa-sāraṁ mṛgekṣaṇāḥ || 52 ||

“O doe-eyed ones! If you want to see him, you do not need to wait for me. Just go ahead and you will see that the black deer has been snared by Śaibyā’s net of words. (Govinda-Līlāmṛtam 8.13)

vidheyaḥ padminīnāṁ vaḥ prayatnaḥ kṛṣṇa-padminaḥ |

candrāvalī-sakhī-vārī-patitasya samuddhṛtau || 53 ||

“The Kṛṣṇa elephant has fallen into the trap of Candrāvalī’s sakhī, so you beautiful girls must surely try to rescue him. (Govinda-Līlāmṛtam 8.14)

na haṭhāt kriyate supaṇḍitair

avicārāt kṛtam apy anarthakam |

suvicārya kṛtaṁ hi kalpate

sudhiyāṁ sādhu-phalopapattaye || 54 ||

“The wise perform no work in haste; work done without proper deliberation is useless. They only perform an action after careful consideration and thus receive good results.” (Govinda-Līlāmṛtam 8.15)

lalitāha satyam etad yan na saṅketa-go hariḥ |

kintu śaibyādibhir vītas tad-yānaṁ māna-hānaye || 55 ||

Lalitā replied, “What you say is true; Hari is not going to the meeting place. He has gone with Śaibyā and her friends. Going to see him now might result in loss of honor.” (Govinda-Līlāmṛtam 8.16)

atheśā kṛṣṇa-saṅgāśotkalikā-vyākulāntarā |

tasya durlabhatā sphūrtyā manasy etad acintayat || 56 ||

Though eager and anxious to be with Śrī Kṛṣṇa, Śrī Rādhā realized how difficult that might be to accomplish, so she gave it some thought. (Govinda-Līlāmṛtam 8.17)

nanandā vidveṣṭrī patir atikaṭuḥ sāpi kuṭilā

dhavāmbā me padmā-prabhṛti-ripu-pakṣaś ca balavān |

vanaṁ vyāptaṁ sarvaṁ vraja-dhana-janair ahni sakhibhir

vṛtaḥ kṛṣṇo labhyaḥ katham iha bhaved vighna-bahule || 57 ||

“My sister-in-law is always against me, my husband speaks harshly and my mother-in-law is deceitful. Padmā and the other girls in the rival party are powerful. Vraja’s cows and people are spread throughout the forest during the daytime and Kṛṣṇa is always surrounded by his friends. With so many obstacles, how will I get Kṛṣṇa? (Govinda-Līlāmṛtam 8.18)

niṣpratyūhaṁ hareḥ saṅgo durlabho me’dya durvidheḥ |

ity ākula-dhiyas tasyāḥ śubhāsīc-chakunonnatiḥ || 58 ||

“Because of my misfortune, it has become difficult to meet freely with Hari today.” As she was thus anxiously thinking, an auspicious omen then appeared. (Govinda-Līlāmṛtam 8.19)

sulabho vṛṣabhaḥ sa girau kam api

prasabhaṁ gaṇako bahir ity avadat |

nija-vāma-kucoru-bhujā-nayanaṁ

priya-saṅgataye’sphurad āśu samam || 59 ||

An astrologer outside told someone loudly that “the bull will be easily found on the mountain.” When she heard this, her left breast, thigh, arm and eye immediately began to quiver simultaneously: an omen that she would meet with her beloved. (Govinda-Līlāmṛtam 8.20)

bhavika-śakuna-jātāmoda-pūrṇāpi gāḍha-

praṇaya-visarajā-sambhāvanā-līna-cittā |

hṛdaya-dayita-vārttā-prāpti-tṛṣṇā-sravantyā

samam ahaha dhaniṣṭhām āgatāṁ sā dadarśa || 60 ||

Though the auspicious omen filled Śrī Rādhā with joy, her mind was clinging to doubts born of her powerful love. But ah, then Śrīmatī saw Dhaniṣṭhā arrive as if by way of her own river of thirst for news of Kṛṣṇa. (Govinda-Līlāmṛtam 8.21)
